Styling Marc Jacobs

This Monday saw the release of another tribute, this time in the form of Marc Jacobs! The collection was inspired by SS17, and was one of my favourite shows of that season. For this blog post I have styled some of the pieces from this release.

This collection saw a mash-up of styles, with heavy influences from 90's cyber/rave culture, but also grunge. There were also clear influences from Harajuku street style, which has inspired my outfits. For my first outfit, I chose this sequin dress. As it is such a statement piece, I kept the styling minimal but still Harajuku with the mega platforms and kawaii bag in pastel shades. With the second outfit, the playsuit is very Lolita, so I kept the styling sweet with pastel pink fluffy heels and frilly socks, and heart earrings.

For my last outfits, I wanted to bring in the grunge element from the collection, but still keeping with the Harajuku street style vibe. The first outfit is super casual, with the oversized hoodie and raw hem jeans. As the jeans are cropped, I styled them with socks and pom pom boots with colours matching the hoodie. Another key aspect to the collection was the layering and clashing prints. With the last outfit, I styled the oversized camouflage jacket with a glitter heart sweater, which I layered over a collared shirt. For accessories, I chose the black platforms with glitter socks, a simple backpack and hoop earrings.
