The '50s - Never Forgotten

Welcome back!

Today’s post will be dedicated to what I see as one of the most iconic decades in history - the 1950s.

The Second World War had just come to an end. Food rations were being lifted, and life for the citizens was returning to normal. Celebrations broke out in several countries as everyone was so ecstatic with relief, which is the main reason the stereotype of ‘everyone being happy in the ‘50s’ stemmed from!

The 50s was also the decade that many  citizens worldwide gained independence they didn’t have before. Tunisia, Libya, Ghana and Morocco had gained independence from their colonial rulers in the 1950s and became free countries. Women all over the world enjoyed rights they didn’t have before -- during the Second World War, most men went to war while the women worked in factories and offices and showed their abilities in the workplace.

As well as this, we were blessed with the work of artists, models and creators.

What part of the ‘50s is special to you?
