Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles
Sukkot is a Jewish holiday in which we live and entertain our friends in a cabin built according to precise rules. This cabin - the sukkah - must be rebuilt every year by the end of Yom Kippur, in the garden or on a balcony. The walls of the sukkah can be made of various materials, but the roof must imperatively be made of leaves and branches. Then, during seven days in Israel and eight days for Jews in the Diaspora, the cabin will serve as housing for the family to eat meals, but sometimes to sleep. Sukkot is a harvest festival, and it is customary to decorate the sukkah with fruits.
