The Hair-Growing Conundrum

75 måneder siden

My real-life hair journey has been a little topsy-turvy. Since about 2011, my evolution has been long-bob, midlength-bob, midlength-pixie-bob, long-pixie, and I'm currently between a pixie and a bob. I love all of the hairstyles I've had, and that's the problem! I like them all so much that I want a different one each day. Every time my hair gets long, I get nostalgic for the days when it was short. Then I cut my hair really short, and soon after I'm wishing it was long again.

If you're at all like me, you've probably had your hair in that awkward 'growing-out' stage many times. It can seem impossible to make it through these months feeling stylish when your hair is so blah, but over the years, I've learned how to make it work until your hair is the length you want. Here are a couple tips to help you along your hair-growing journey:

Accessories are your best friends. Headbands and hairclips and bobby pins are really helpful for keeping annoying bangs and barely-there layers out of your way. For my pixie cut grow-out, I'm trying to hide the layers that aren't fully grown out yet, and accessories are great for tucking them back and helping them blend in.

Get regular trims. This may seem counter-intuitive. Why would you cut your hair if you're growing it out? Not only do regular haircuts help keep your hair healthy and split-end free, they also prevent the mullet problem. Your hairdresser knows how to help your hair grow out gracefully, so ask them what they can do to make your awkward hairstyle look a little more intentional.

I can't wait until my hair gets to bob-length again...and I'm making myself keep it grown-out for at least six months before I make any more changes!!

How do you deal with growing out your hair?

Til next time!
