Isabel Gillies, known for her television role as Detective Stabler’s wife on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, has published two memoirs, Happens Every Day (a New York Times bestseller) and A Year and Six Seconds (both Scribner). She graduated from New York University with a BFA in film. Isabel lives in Manhattan with her family.

5 Must Reads: Biographies or autobiographies of almost anyone. It's so good to know how other people "did it," it doesn't matter what the "it" is. Ethan Frome (beautiful, clear, sad), Sidhartha (whoa. That's a good one), Letters to a Young Poet (Rilke...best advice EVER), Sense and Sensibility (although, in truth, I didn't read that until my 20's, but it's awesome)
