This sibling rivalry is about to get heated. Elle Fanning, younger sister of Dakota, seems to be everywhere these days.  With a successful film career of her own (and 12-years old, no less), she stars in Sofia Coppola’s highly-acclaimed Somewhere and can be spotted off the big screen in The Curve of Forgotten Things for Rodarte’s spring 2011 collection.Elle is also coming into her own as a red carpet style icon. In a recent interview with Nowness, she cited her affinity for vintage fashion: “The 1950′s will always be my all-time favorite, but at the moment I’m adding in baby doll dresses from the ’60s and high-waisted shorts and pants from the ’70s.” Despite some very grown-up choices of Marchesa, Valentino Couture, and Marc Jacobs, this ingénue doesn’t forget the importance of a little youth and imagination: “When you lose believing in magic, you’re too grown-up and take yourself too seriously. Peter Pan had a point!” Here are some of her stand-out looks:

With their first EP, Love Your Ground, unleashed just four years ago, Mumford and Sons has already shared a stage with the likes of Bob Dylan, Dr. Dre, Mick Jagger, and Lady Gaga at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards earlier this year. Consisting of Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, “Country” Winston Marshal, and Ted Dwane, this hybrid of bluegrass, folk, and rock birthed from the West London Folk scene in 2007 have a rustic sound stocked with vocal harmonies and a banjo flourish. Yes, we love our boy bands to be brawny, but there’s nothing better than a good bookworm. Beyond instrumental finesse and (as described by his Facebook fans) “a voice that can break the heart of a robot,” Marcus Mumford has got brains, too. Many lyrics of the Mumford and Sons are wracked with literary references, to Shakespeare and Steinbeck. This bibliophile even runs an online book club from the Mumford and Sons website.

Girls love Justin for his crooning tunes, boyish charm, and that famous hair. But we haven’t seen him take a stand on any serious  issues until now, when contributing editor of the Rolling Stones Vanessa Grigoriadis decided to ask the big questions. Sure, the boy’s a cutie, but what does he think of health care? “You guys are evil,” he says with a laugh. He means Americans. “Canada’s the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard’s baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby’s premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.” Abortion? “I really don’t believe in abortion, it’s like killing a baby.” What if it’s pregnancy as a result of rape? “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.” What political party is he affiliated with? “I’m not sure about the parties, but whatever they have in Korea, that’s bad.” Pre-marital sex? “I don’t think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them, I think you should just wait for the person you’re…in love with.”

True, he’s a celebrity so his political views aren’t his top priority and as a teenager he has plenty of time to change his mind, but it is interesting to see what he thinks. And even if I personally don’t share a lot of his views, you have to hand it to the kid. Standing by your beliefs when being questioned by Rolling Stones magazine is no minor feat.

The braids at Y-3 fall 2011 were amazing. Frizz and ponytail lumps were allowed for a slept-in-my-braids look, blending tough chick and girl next door together. Who said multiple personalities isn’t chic? Check out Tresemme.com to learn how to recreate the braids (and other hairstyles) from the NYFW runway shows.
