The Dries Van Noten fall 2011 show proved that the devil’s in the details with the easiest update for your everyday ponytail. Simply switch out your elastic for a large metal ring to exude an edgy, minimalistic vibe. Hopefully high-street stores will pick up on this, but in the meantime get the look with these easy steps:

    1. Find a large thick ring. A man’s thumb ring would work nicely.
    2. Twist your hair into a coiled ponytail, wetting the hair first will help it stick together even more so it’s easier to thread through the ring.
    3. Thread your hair through the ring and push up into your usual ponytail.

    Who: Reese Witherspoon
What: Water for Elephants premiere in New York City
Wear: Jason Wu Fall 2011 dress

Reese Witherspoon looked every inch an American beauty in an elegant Jason Wu confection at the Water for Elephants premiere in New York City last night. Witherspoon is no stranger to Wu’s designs but this look might take the cake. The classic silhouette, on-trend cream color, and bubble hem add just the right amount of drama to her look. The shorter hem length shows of Witherspoon’s killer legs and her simple drop earrings let the dress really shine.

This cutie keeps chic and cool at last weekend’s Coachella festival in a high-waisted mustard skirt and lace top. She manages to keep her look practical with a cross body bag and flat lace up shoes while still staying trendy in a lace crop top and full skirt. Plus we love that sweet and sassy pixie cut! Peep our picks to get the look:

British girls have a style all of their own and we have to say we love it! Both Brit fashionistas Alexa Chung and Karen Gillan have been seen wearing this cute stripey and girly Orla Kiely dress to events lately. Alexa went a bit more classic with a blue shawl and dark pumps while Karen had fun with a bright green bag and brown booties. Who do you think wore it best?

Such European humbleness! Spanish born movie star Penelope Cruz recently revealed that on the set of the new Pirates Of The Caribbean movie, she had to resort to some very non Hollywood ways of relieving herself. While filming scenes with Johnny Depp on a remote Puerto Rico island, she was forced to use the ocean as a toilet! She told Entertainment Weekly magazine, "They (producers) left Johnny and I on a deserted island with no bathrooms to do a helicopter shot. That, for a pregnant woman, can be a little bit of a problem. So for those few hours I had to keep going into the water every 15 minutes."Aw, poor Penelope! However we're glad to hear that she didn't force them to fly in a porta-potty or something like that. Down to earth celebrities are an all too rare breed these days!

Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey on their wedding day in 2002.

Jessica Simpson‘s getting hitched again and his time around she’s older, wiser and apparently, ready to take on extra wedding responsibilities—like designing her own wedding dress. In 2002, when she married Nick Lachey, Simpson wore a classic white Vera Wang gown with embroidered floral lace on the strapless bodice and a wide princess-like skirt.  Since then, Simpson’s built one of the biggest celebrity fashion empires.  She sells shoes, bags, jeans—almost anything you can think of—and though she’s not actually adding bridal to her resume, she is tackling one look. “I think every bride wants to design her own dress or at least have a part in it. It won’t be like a Jessica Simpson Collection dress,” she told Extra. The wedding itself will happen before the end of the year.  She doesn’t drop any hints as to what the dress will look like; we would have pegged her for pale pink, but now that that’s been done what do you think her personalized gown will look like?

This weekend’s Coachella marks the start of the sunnies-and-Wellies-wearing music festival season.  Whether you’re gearing up for Bonnaroo or Lollapalooza, you’ll be in need of an outfit that is both outdoors-friendly and blends in with the likes of Kanye West, Robyn, The Kills, and Mumford & Sons.  Must-haves include spring’s maxidress, printed shorts, basic rocker T-shirt, and utilitarian jacket.  Pair any of these with the requisite wide-brim boho hat, huge shades, carry-all tote, flat sandals and chunky bangles, and you’ll be ready to go from the mosh pit to the after party.

Summer’s must-try hair style? Bohemian-inspired feather extensions, like Selena Gomez wore to Nickelodeon’s 24th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards earlier this month. They are real feathers that are attached at the base of a hair strand wherever you desire. You can wear these cool pieces on a single strand of hair or in clusters of four or five pieces. The extensions last for about six weeks and you can even curl them, flat-iron, or wash them. They range from $7-$45 depending on how many strands you want. To top it off the extensions come in a variety of colors from turquoise to earth tone neutrals, for people who love the bold vs. the subtle. So what do you think of this hair trend? Are you with it or totally not for it?
