Formal vs. Informal Language

Hi dolls, Alice here!

I try to keep my blog posts formal, but they sometimes come across as too formal. It's a problem I have always had when writing but I try to balance it out with the use of informal language; the key to successful blogging is balancing these two out!

Some dolls who want to become Starbloggers might want to get to grips with this as it is a vital part to helping your readers understand what you say with it being both polite and friendly.

Which would you rather read?

"yo! today i am going to talk about fashion. fashion is gr8 bc..."

"Hi dolls! Today I am going to talk to you about fashion. In my opinion, fashion is great because..."

I am guilty of using 'text talk' with my close friends on Stardoll as you might see in mine or their guestbooks. I suppose you just need to remember to keep the shortening words banter away from your blog, as although friendly, it can be hard to understand.

How to balance it out:

The way I see it is to always sign on and sign off, I make sure I always do this as it connects you more to your reader:

"Hi dolls, Alice here!"..."Stay safe! Alice."

I also strongly suggest using your opinions as it again connects you more to your reader!

Hope these tips help!
