BE(YOU)TIFUL

Here we are just over a month into the Summer season. Lately, I have been seeing lots of negativity surrounding body image and self confidence. These two issues have grabbed my attention both online and in real life. We all have this ideal picture in our minds of what summer should be like because of everything the media has exposed us to all our lives. In all of the magazines and popular TV shows, the men and women are "flawless" looking with "perfect" bodies (or so we think). Not one piece of their hair is out of place. Their faces are supposedly "natural" when in reality they are caked with makeup.

So, today I wanted to take a minute and say something I believe to be extremely important. DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO ANYONE. You are your own wonderful, beautiful, and unique person. Do not compare yourself to the unrealistic ads you find on either the internet or in magazines. Do not compare yourself to your friends. The only person that you need to worry about is yourself. Let your natural hair down whether it's stick straight, crazy curly, or somewhere inbetween. Apply some makeup remover to a cotton square and wipe off that foundation and mascara. Put on that super cute swimsuit you fell in love with. Show the real you to the world, and be proud of everything you are. You are beautiful. Know it, feel it, believe it.

In an effort to bump up everyone's self esteem this week, I challenge all of you reading this to tell three friends today how beautiful they are both inside and out. Tell them in person when you see them or even send a quick text. Let them know! :)
